Happy New Year, friends! Welcome to our very first magazine update post. I hope to put one of these out every month in which I share important information and updates with you, so be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss them.
As you know, we accept submissions 365 days a year; however, there are cutoffs that determine for which issue you will be considered. We now have concrete submission windows for each issue, which are as follows:
- Winter issue: mid-January
Submission window: August 16 to November 15
- Spring issue: mid-April
Submission window: November 16 to February 15
- Summer issue: mid-July
Submission window: February 16 to May 15
- Fall issue: mid-October
Submission window: May 16 to August 15
As you may notice, this means that submissions for our second issue have been extended until February 15, so you still have just under a month to get your fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction to us! Check out our submission page for all of the details.
Looking further into the future, here are some things on the horizon, though they are subject to change:
- Volunteer reader opportunities
- Writing contests
- Monthly “Letter from the Editor” updates (like this one!)
- A blog with more frequent and casual content from our writers
- Merchandise (mugs, stickers, etc.)
- PDF version of previous issues
- Pushcart Prize nominations at the end of the year
Since The Raven Review is still in its infancy, there are bound to be some changes and growing pains. As such, I’ve been busy attempting to implement all of the many hopes, dreams, and aspirations that I have for the magazine. So, how do you feel about these changes, and what are you most looking forward to? Do you have any ideas that you’d like to share? Please leave a reply with your thoughts below or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
